The composition of the brake friction plate

1. Friction material
An important component of the brake friction plate is the friction material. Friction materials are divided into those with asbestos and non-asbestos. Earlier, asbestos-containing friction materials were used. Later, asbestos was found to pollute the environment, so they were abandoned. Now, asbestos-free friction materials are basically used. Friction plates are roughly divided into metal plates, semi-metal plates, and metal-free plates. The metal sheet is made of steel fiber as the main friction material, resin as the structural material and other things and then fired; the semi-metal sheet uses graphite, mica, etc. to replace part of the steel fiber, and copper fiber or copper particles are also used; no metal sheet There is no or only a small amount of metal components in it, and other materials such as ceramic fibers are used as the main friction material. Most of the friction plates are metal plates. 2. Insulation layer
During the braking process, due to the high-speed friction between the brake friction plate and the brake disc, a large amount of heat is generated instantaneously. If the heat is directly transferred to the metal back plate of the friction plate, it will cause the brake cylinder to overheat, and in severe cases may cause Brake fluid creates air lock. Therefore, there is a layer of thermal insulation between the friction material and the metal back plate. The heat insulation layer needs to be resistant to high temperature and high pressure, effectively insulate the braking high temperature, and thus maintain a stable braking distance.

3. Adhesive material
Adhesive materials are also called structural materials. The adhesive material is mostly resin, and the function of the friction plate is to allow the fibers inside to “stand” and generate friction with the brake disc. Generally, the resin will decompose or be burned at about 380°C, and the fibers will lose their structural support. Therefore, if you want to improve the heat resistance of the friction plate and be unaffected at high temperature, a simple way is to increase the metal content, which can make the heat dissipate faster. However, if too much metal fiber is added, the friction lining will become very hard. When the friction lining brakes, it will easily lead to a decrease in braking performance. Generally, few manufacturers use this method. Now adding some other special ingredients in the resin can modify the resin. The modified resin can reach about 430°C. If it is higher, the friction plate with this structure will not be able to stand it.

4. Lining board
The liner can also be called the back plate, which includes a noise-reducing lining. The friction plate composed of fixed resin and fiber can be installed on the hoisting winch and provide a certain strength to ensure that it will not be broken due to uneven force when the brake is applied. The function of the noise reduction lining is mainly to reduce the vibration and noise generated by braking and improve the comfort of the winch driver. Some manufacturers or low-quality friction linings often do not make noise-reducing linings, and in order to save costs, the thickness of the linings is often around 1.5mm or thinner, which will easily cause the lining ( Backplane) is easy to fall off, which has certain hidden dangers.

Requirements for the liner: meet strict durability specifications; ensure the safe operation of friction materials and brake calipers; powder coating technology for the back plate; environmental protection, anti-rust, durable use.
